Not only did I want to play and run with my kids, but I wanted to live. Not exist like I have been for so many years, I wanted to live life and do all the things I've wanted to do or used to do
I remember that we signed my son up for soccer, and he was trying his best. I tried working with him, but being in the shape I was in made it almost impossible to do anything. That was when I decided I had to do something now and not just keep telling myself that I'll get to it one of these days. Not only did I want to play and run with my kids, but I wanted to live. Not exist like I have been for so many years, I wanted to live life and do all the things I've wanted to do or used to do. If it wouldn't have been for the smiling faces and welcoming attitude when I first signed up I probably wouldn't have signed up at all. I joined The Y on May 16, 2014 to start my journey to better myself and to be a better example for my family, especially my kids. My first workout was tough, but I made it through and haven't slowed down since. I've seen old friends, teachers and met some new people while going to The Y that have had nothing but encouraging words to say to me. My one year journey to a better me anniversary is coming up this month and I am happy to say that I am down seven pant sizes, two shirt sizes and have lost a total of 117 pounds so far! I've had my ups and downs in my year, but I haven't let that stop me. When I feel like quiting I remember a quote I read at the beginning of my journey from The Rock, he said. "Be the hardest worker in the room". When the going gets tough I keep repeating that line to myself until I finish what I'm doing. Anyone can do this. Anyone! It all happens one rep at a time, one step at a time. The Y offers so much to help anyone that wants a healthier life or life style. You just have to be willing to make that leap and commit!
