I'm beyond thankful for the relationships that my time at the Y has given me and for all of the love and compassion that not only my fellow employees have shown me, but also the other members.
When I started working at the Y, I thought it would just simply be another job like the ones that I had before. I was quickly proven wrong when my brothers managed to pull me into the weight room. Every time that I turned around I was met with another friendly face that would soon become another friend. Nowadays I spend almost my entire day at the Y either lifeguarding, working out or just hanging out with some of my friends. I'm beyond thankful for the relationships that my time at the Y has given me and for all of the love and compassion that not only my fellow employees have shown me, but also the other members. It wasn't the Y, but the community that has been built in the Y, that has allowed me to flourish not only as an employee but as a loving human being. You don't get these types of relationships at any gym. And that's why the Y has stopped being a gym and has started being a home and place for people to go whenever they need support, advice or just a friend. That is why I love the Y so much, and why I think others should join and experience what I have.
It's been so fun to watch the kids grow up within the YMCA organization. And as an added bonus, some of our closest friends are families that we've met through the Y. We feel extremely fortunate to have such awesome opportunities for the kids to have fun, stay active, and make new friends, and we are excited to continue exploring all that the YMCA has to offer!
