Kids Learn Teamwork and Basketball Skills at the Y

Friday, December 4, 2015

Registration is going on now for the YMCA’s Youth Basketball League, where children grades 2 through 4 can learn basic skills in a positive environment. The YMCA emphasizes participation, fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship and having fun over winning. Basketball games are played on Saturday mornings at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA, with practices on Tuesday or Thursday at Harrison Elementary School. Games start Saturday, January 9 and run until February 13.

Again this year, the league will be working with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants from the National Basketball Developmental League. The Mad Ants will be coming to the Y on January 18 to run a clinic where the kids will learn skills from the players themselves.

All Y Youth Basketball players will receive a game ticket to the YMCA Night with the Mad Ants in early March and a basketball. Families will also be able to purchase discounted tickets to the YMCA Night with the Pacers on February 28, which includes an on-court experience for YMCA participants at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Register by December 30 at the YMCA. Call Zane Gard at 574-269-9622 x238 for more information or see www.kcymca.org.
