Bible Study, Spanish and Weight Competition at the Y this fall

Kosciusko Community YMCA will be starting its 2nd session fall classes on October 26. Classes will run through December 20. Classes for youth will include swim lessons and gymnastics classes for all ages. Classes that promote the Healthy Living aspect of your Y will include group exercise and Indoor Group Cycling classes, classes for older adults and water aerobics in both the Warm Water and Lap Pools; adult classes are included with a Y membership. In addition to the regular class schedule the Y will be offering several diverse programs and opportunities this fall.
The Y will be hosting an adult women’s bible study being offered by Warsaw Community Church starting on October 7. The women will be going through Beth Moore’s study on 1 and 2 Thessalonians, “Children of the Day.” You don’t have to be a Y member to participate. Find encouragement and community on Wednesdays, October 7-December 9, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sign up through the YMCA.
There will be Teen Nights on October 9 and November 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for ages 13-18. This will be an opportunity for teens to get together and have fun in organized gym activities.
The Y will offer a Push Pull Event- a Bench Press and Deadlift Competition for men and women age 15 and up on October 10 starting at 12:00 p.m. You don’t need to be a Y member to compete. Please sign up at the Welcome Center by October 7.
Join the Y on a journey to learn the Spanish language! Enjoy the rewards of life-long learning while gaining the skills to connect to Spanish-speaking members in our community. This is an introductory course in which participants will learn to listen to, speak, read and write entry-level Spanish, great for those wanting to learn conversational Spanish. This class will be tailored to the needs of participants, but is not recommended for those with considerable past experience learning Spanish. Spanish will be offered on Monday nights October 19-December 14, 6:30-8:300 p.m. Sign up by October 18.
The Y will be starting an Adult Volleyball League on Thursdays, November 5-December 17 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. Teams will consist of 6-9 players and teams with a captain who is a Y member will enjoy a discounted rate. Register by October 28.
CPR will be offered to the community on November 12, 6:00-9:00 p.m. If you need CPR certification for a job or you want to be more prepared to handle an emergency you can sign up for this American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR class. The class will teach adult, child and infant CPR and AED use. This three-hour class provides a two-year certification. Please contact the Welcome Center to register by November 9. There is a cost for participation and certification.
Registration for the fall special events is going on now at the North Webster or the Parkview Warsaw YMCA branch or online at www.kcymca.org. Fall 2 registration will start October 19 for everyone.
