YMCA's Kathy's Cancer Conversations This time of learning and support is free to cancer survivors and their spouses or caregivers at any stage of their journey. This volunteer-led Cancer Support Group will meet on the 2nd Monday of each month from 5:15-6:15 p.m. in the Parkview Center for Healthy Living at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA. Childcare will be available for Y members. No registration needed, just show up. Free to everyone.
January 8, 5:15-6:15 p.m. "Laughter Yoga" Life can be so serious. Come and laugh at your neighbor, yourself and go home learning how laughing each day produces endorphins which are good for your body and ultimately you.
February 12, 5:15-6:15 p.m. "Ask the Oncologist" Join us as we ask questions of medical oncologist Dr. Bruettman of Goshen Cancer Care. He will talk to us about new treatments in various cancers and will answer your questions. This has been a very popular topic in the past; please bring a friend who may need their questions answered.
March 12, 5:15-6:15 p.m "Neuropathy is Such a Pain" Neuropathy , pain and tingling in hands and feet, is a very common side affect of chemotherapy and is bothersome at best. Dr. Emily Moore of Goshen Cancer Care will share with us ways to help this condition. Neuropathy is also a problem for people with Type 2 Diabetes so please bring a friend who may benefit.
April 9, 5:15-6:15 p.m. "Ask the Librarian- The Search for Information" The internet can be so mysterious when you are searching for more information about your cancer or other medical situations. There's a lot of credible information out there, as well as sites that are not. We will meet at Warsaw Public Library this session to be shown how to look for credible information by a Reference Librarian.
Not only is the YMCA a place to work out, it has become like a second home. A place where the kids look forward to coming, a place where we as a family have come together to better ourselves.
