This Winter, Kosciusko County will host its first ever "Night to Shine," sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. On February 9, more than 450 churches around the world will host this unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God's love for people with special needs, ages 14 and older. Locally, the event will be hosted by First Christian Church with support from the Kosciusko Community YMCA.
Every guest of Night to Shine enters this complimentary event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, prom favors for each honored guest, a Respite Room for parents and caretakers, and, of course, a dance floor... all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom.
"We'd love to have as many guests attending this event as possible, to extend this opportunity to be pampered, cared for and honored to as many as we can," says Steven Kuhn, the YMCA's Director of Aquatics and Inclusive Programming. For those with special needs, ages 14 and older, the event is free. This event is not possible without the community's support. To make this night possible, the YMCA has recruited over 100 volunteers and service support from several local businesses including: Anderson Florist and Greenhouse, Blossers Photography, Elite Whiteman Limo, Grace College, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Luthern EMS, Male Fashions, Rice Ford, Shindigz, Warsaw Community Church, and Warsaw Party Rental.
