We take the YMCA's Mission, "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all" and the Christian aspect of our heritage seriously here at the Kosciusko Community YMCA. We have a chapel dedicated to prayer, fellowship, Bible Study and reflection and a full-time Chaplain position. The chaplain is a non-denominational, care-giving ministry that aids and sustains people with Christian concern, friendship, counsel and referrals to other supportive organizations or professionals when needed, as a benefit of your membership. The Chaplain focuses on Y staff, members and bringing together the Christian community on common ground. He engages in pastoral care, counseling, visitation and spiritual direction and mentoring as requested or referred by staff or members.
Stop by the chapel to post a prayer request or borrow a book from our Christian lending library.
Churches are invited to be partners with the Y in holding Bible studies, providing volunteer chaplains, reading to our kids in Child Watch, and giving a Bible lesson to our summer camp. If your church would be interested in working with the Y to reach the community with the Gospel, contact our Director of Christian Emphasis, Matt Goebel at email@example.com.
One of the unexpected perks of being involved in the YMCA has not just been an improvement in feeling personal happiness, but developing many new friendships and a wonderful sense of community. When I walk into the YMCA, I can't help but think 'I belong here!'
